Painkillers killing much more than the pain!

The Commission on Human Medicines has warned doctors not to prefer pain killers as far as possible because studies have proved that regular use of pain killers may lead to heart attack and stroke.

Amongst such pain killers diclofenac, etodolac, ibuprofen, indomethacin, ketoprofen, ketorolac, meloxicam, nabumetone, naproxen, nimesulide and piroxicam have been included.

There are many people coping with chronic pain and arthritis, who regularly use NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) too. Doctors believe that the prolonged use of NSAIDs may lead to serious consequences.

According to Dr. June Raine, of Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency:

The lowest effective doses of NSAIDs should be taken for the shortest time necessary.

Therefore I would advice all who consume pain killers in some form or the other to avoid them as far as possible and don’t be your own doctor and prefer experts’ guidance.
