Menopausal symptoms-coping herb may cut breast cancer risk: Study

The research found that women who use black cohosh, besides dong quai, red clover, ginseng and yam for their menopause phase, are less at risk from breast cancer by 61 percent, compared to the other drug users.

It has also been found that African-American women were more likely to use the herbs than their European-American counterparts.

According to the researchers,

Substantial additional research must be undertaken before it can be established that black cohosh, or some compound found in black cohosh, is a breast cancer chemopreventive agent.

They further stress that,

women may wish to seek guidance from their physician before using these compounds.
