Low Cholesterol Diet

The diet is based on introducing good cholesterol foods in your daily diet. You must not use this diet to escape from a high cholesterol condition. Make this diet as your permanent diet if you wish to stay healthy in the long run, especially in the old age. Here is a list of foods to include in your diet to attain low cholesterol levels.

Avocados You must avoid fats in this diet. Avocados contain healthy fat content which is healthy. These fats are called monounsaturated fats. They lower the bad cholesterol levels while increasing good cholesterol. You are at lower risk to heart diseases by eating avocados regularly. You may replace margarine with avocado in sandwiches.

Dark Chocolate
It is the healthiest form of chocolate. It helps in decreasing risk of heart attack. Dark chocolate also lowers blood pressure. You may eat dark chocolate in small quantity daily rather than other unhealthy sweets.

Garlic It is a natural source that helps in lowering cholesterol levels. It cleans the arteries and improves immune system. You may eat garlic raw or add while preparing different meals. Garlic adds a tempting odor to the meals.

Green Tea
  It helps in cleansing the body and lowering cholesterol. You may have a cup of green tea before every meal. It is also effective for weight loss as it increases metabolic rate and burns calories rapidly. Green tea should be consumed in breakfast and before going to bed.

Onion You may eat raw onions by adding them to sandwiches and salads. Onions seem to raise good cholesterol levels and kill bad cholesterol. It also improves immunity and allows you to have control over blood sugar. Onions are helpful in improving blood clot conditions.

Orange Juice It contains antioxidants, vitamin C and fiber in abundance. You may drink a glass of orange juice daily. It is best to drink orange juice in the morning.

Tuna – All cold water fishes are good when you are looking to lower cholesterol levels. Tuna, salmon and mackerel are some of the best options. You may steam, grill or bake the fishes to gain maximum nutrition. Don’t fry any fish as it will add unhealthy fats to it.

Whole Grains
– You must consider high fiber breads, waffles, pancakes, oatmeal and crackers when you are on Low Cholesterol Diet. You should consume these items in breakfast or snack time.

Red Wine – It is an excellent drink to have after supper. It aids the cause of low cholesterol levels.
