Intake of supplements may stave off hearing loss

hearing loss 64In a major finding, researchers from the University of Michigan have found that a combination of anti-oxidants and minerals may help prevent hearing loss.

Researchers’ this belief is based on the study in which impact of vitamins A, C and E was studied along with magnesium was studied on guinea pigs and it was found that a combination of high doses of vitamins A, C, and E and magnesium, taken one hour before noise exposure and continued as a once-daily treatment for five days, was very effective at preventing permanent noise-induced hearing loss.

Experts are very excited with their new finding, as they believe that this new finding may pave way for the development of a nutritional bar that would protect soldiers from battle-related hearing loss. Bringing out the unexposed peculiarity of this study, Josef M. Miller, Ph.D., who is the senior author of the study said:

These agents have been used for many years, but not for hearing loss. We know they’re safe, so that opens the door to push ahead with clinical trials with confidence we’re not going to do any harm.
