Heart attack can be predicted by simple blood test

Blood test can reveal your hemoglobin count, sugar level etc. But it can also tell you diseases related to heart. According to a US study done on on 987 men and women suffering from stable coronary disease higher level of the protein NT-proBNP in blood meant a higher risk of heart attack.

The NT-proBNP protein is a marker in the blood for the hormone BNP and it can be predicted by a simple blood test with strong probability.

According to California based San Francisco VA Medical Centre, BNP goes up during times of cardiac stretch or stress.

During research the patients were divided into four groups. The Patients who had the highest levels of NT-proBNP were 3.4 times more likely to die or have a heart attack or stroke.
