Healthcare System in Morocco

The healthcare system in Morocco consists of three sectors—public (which includes Ministry of Public Health and the Armed Forces Health Services), semi-public and private sector. The developments in the healthcare infrastructure has led to a dramatic decrease in mortality rates and improved health status for the majority of individuals.

The number of hospitals and clinics are raising giving Moroccans wider access to health services, including primary, preventive and specialist care. The healthcare system is aiming to go through more reforms to offer further their citizens the highest quality of healthcare they can provide.

Quality of Healthcare in Morocco

Morocco is similar to other Northern African regions that have not placed great emphasis on complying with international accreditation regulations. However, the revenue generated through medical tourism income has prompted them to greatly improve medical facilities.

With the developments being made within the system, the government is realizing the importance of affiliating with international institutions and receiving accreditations from foreign bodies like JCI. The quality of healthcare in Morocco has gone through vast improvements in the last decade and will continue to develop to reach the level other third world medical tourism destinations have.
