Ground beef found to be contaminated with E. Coli

The FSIS of United States have given a warning related to health as nearly 41,305 pounds of ground beef found to be contaminated with E.coli.

The Food safety & inspection Service (FSIS) mentioned that the ground beef is the product of Interstate Meat Distributors Inc., can possibly have Escherichia coli in it.

According to the health department stated that — the sickness due to E.coli happened in July end & in the beginning of August.

The health department mentioned that the 6 E. coli cases were found in 1 kid & 5 adults. Two more cases related to E. coli contamination have been found to have links with the ground beef product in Oregon & Washington.

E.coli is a dangerous bacterium which can cause diarrhea, it can be either bloody or can be not. One may have cramping in stomach. Gastric problems may occur. Vomiting can also occur in few cases. One may have pain in abdomen. Fever less likely to occur.

The contaminated products are — 16-ounce packet of Northwest Finest 7% fat, natural ground beef. It has the UPC code — 752907 600127 & 16-ounce packet of Northwest Finest 10% fat, organic ground beef with no UPC code.

Every packet has the establishment number i.e. — Est. 965 & selling date — 1 August to 11 August.

These products were being given to retail stores in Alaska, Washington, Idaho & Oregon. Now selling of these products is banned. The contaminated ground beef are now pulled out of stores and the people are also advised not to use this effected ground beef. Just throw them as freezing cannot kill the bacteria, as this can only make them inactive for sometime.
