Governments baffled about ban on cigarettes

It’s quite ridiculous that the government legally allows tobacco companies to sell an addictive product that is deadly to the user and affects those who have to pay the bigger costs for the action of others.

It affects all the tax payers because they end up paying the bills of smokers who require medical treatment for cancer and other conditions.

In recent years, much controversy has raged over the negative effects of tobacco use, especially cigarette smoking. The issue of banning smoking is such an emotional topic among those who oppose smoking in public places and those who enjoy their evil.

Why cigarettes are not banned?

Cigarettes are a legal product that generates a lot of revenue for governments all over the world. These are not banned fully till date because governments take in more money from tobacco taxes than they spend on treating the sick. If the medical costs were ever to exceed tax revenues, governments would very quickly pull the plug on cigarettes and ban them outright.

The government doesn’t ban smoking because money talks and everything else just doesn’t make sense. Moreover, they get a double helping of the tax payers’ pie by taxing both the tobacco companies and the tobacco users. In nutshell, the future of public health care will always be at the stake.
