Adding fruit to your daily diet will not lead to weight loss. If you want to lose some weight you should substitute high calories foods with low calories density of fruit. For example, replacing a medium-sized orange for a plain bagel in your breakfast saves about 200 calories from your intake.

The high fibre density in fruit may help weight loss by making you feel less hungry and fiber also absorbs water in your intestines, producing a feeling of fullness. Also the fibre slows your digestive processes, prolonging the fullness sensation.

Whole fruit is a better option than fruit juice when you are dieting because processing takes away most of the fibre. You’ll never get bored of the diet because of the great variety of fruit.
