Folic acid can bring down heart attack risk!

British researchers have come out with the belief that adding folic acid supplements to diet may help prevent heart disease and stroke largely. Elucidating the whole concept, these researchers divulged the fact that folic acid brings down the level of amino acid, called homocysteine, and thus reduces the chances of cardiovascular disease.

Throwing more light on the importance of folic acid supplements, David Wald, of the Wolfson Institute for Preventive Medicine, Barts and the London, Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry in London said:

The evidence is very persuasive that lowering homocysteine with folic acid will lower your risk of heart attack and stroke by about 10-20 per cent.

This is wonderful news, especially for the patients with heart disease because it clearly brings out the importance of folic acid for a healthy heart. So, start having diet rich in folic acid.
