False milk-intolerance leaves 90% girls with weaker bones: Study

perceived milk intolerance may weaken girls bones

If you love that glass of hot milk than there is no second thought on your fitness, especially when it comes to your bones’ strength. But, there are many of us who believe to be intolerant to lactose, when we actually do not – leading to a poor ‘health-future’.

If you thing this to be a mere allegation on your not being able to consume milk and milk-products, then check out with the new study, which says that when many girls with thinner or weaker bones were tested to determine if they actually did have difficulty digesting lactose, they surprisingly did not!

And the result, they happen to have thinner bones compared to their peers who don’t think the same way and consume enough of dairy products – as their overall calcium intake lessens.

The lead author of the study, Dr. Carol J. Boushey of Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana said,

It’s a little concerning that you have young girls during this period of time when they actually obtain their peak bone mass…that they have already been influenced that they are intolerant to milk for whatever reason.

It is rather simply that people with ‘lactose mal-digestion’ can usually drink or eat a single serving of dairy – for e.g. 8 ounces of milk — without suffering any intolerance symptoms. They may have indigestion only if consume amounts larger than this!

So, next time you say ‘no’ to milk, pause and give a second though on your bones’ future conditions and give a try to that warm milk sip.
