Experts have come out urging that US prisoners should be provided with condoms since prisoners have three times higher rate of HIV in US. Experts believe that indulgence in unsafe homosexuality is the main reason behind the surge of HIV infection in these prisoners. According to an estimate, more than 40 percent of the prisoners in US are black. That is the reason why black people are at higher risk of having HIV infection.
After release, when these HIV infected prisoners mingle with the common society then they spread HIV virus among other people too. Therefore, it is necessary to curb the spread of HIV infection by distributing condoms among prisoners and encouraging them for safer sex.
