Experienced healthcare managers opt for individual hospitals having rapid expansion plans

A shortage of experienced managers in the hospital industry coupled with a surge in new job opportunities is causing a churn in leadership roles at leading corporate hospital chains. Interestingly, a good number of these senior executives are choosing to move to smaller healthcare brands or standalone hospitals that either have rapid expansion plans or are reinventing themselves to adapt to a more competitive healthcare landscape.

In recent months, New Delhibased Fortis Healthcare has lost senior executives to Nova Medical Centres, a budding chain of day-care surgery hospitals backed by venture capitalist GTI.

Rajen Ghadiok, who was director of Fortis’ medical operations group, Sameer Khan, its director medical technology and planning, Sunil Kapur, its chief of sales and international business, and Malvika Varma its head of human resources , have quit over the past six months. Some of them joined Nova directly while others spent a few months elsewhere before regrouping under the Nova banner.
