How effective is liquid glucosamine chondroitin for arthritis?

I am suffering from arthritis and I have been prescribed to take liquid glucosamine chondroitin. Would anyone tell me how effective is liquid glucosamine chondroitin for arthritis? I need some expert advise on this desperately.
