Drinking tea may lower skin cancer risk by 20-30%: Study

drinking tea 9If you are a tea lover, here is a good reason for a sip into a brewing cup of tea before going to bed at night. According to a new research, a cup of tea every night may lower the risk of two common forms of skin cancer!

This is because, people who have the habit of drinking tea, have a lower risk of developing two most common forms of skin cancer – the squamous cell or the basal cell carcinoma. The risk is said to be lowered by an amazingly 20 percent to 30 percent, compared to those who don’t drink tea.

But, this does not give you the license to get baked in the summer sun, without the fears of developing a cancer. Neither, sips in tea cups take the responsibility to protect from malignant melanoma – the most deadly and rare form of skin cancer.

In fact, a tea antioxidant — EGCG – is able to reduce burning on skin exposed to UV rays. It is only that tea antioxidants may limit the damage, inflicted by UV radiation on the skin, according to researchers.
