A person must follow one general rule – stay away from refined carbohydrates. Keep yourself away from breads, tortilla chips and salsa. Choose unprocessed unrefined carbohydrates that are healthier. Eat a lot of protein such as chicken, fish, and certain cuts of meat. Grilled chicken or fish is a very good option, but ask the waiter not to add cheese. Avoid high saturated fat such as salami, bacon, fatty cut meat, cheese, butter etc. Eat plenty of fiber, you can find them found in fruits, nuts, beans, vegetables and whole grain.

At fast food joints, avoid French fries, hamburger buns, and other fried stuff. You can order hamburger according to your choice without any bun. Place meat, vegetables and sauce on lettuce and eat it.
