The Chinese man who had a face transplant on April 14 might need one or two more surgeries. Then his face will be completed. Dr. Guo Shuzhong, displayed a photo of face transplant patient Li Guoxing at the Xijing Hospital in Xi’an on 25 April.
Li is now taking three meals per day. Doctors are eagerly waiting to see that Li’s body rejects or accepts the donor tissue. It will take another two months to reconstruct his face. ‘But his condition is really good’ said the doctor.
World’s first partial face transplant was completed in France 6 months ago. A woman got donor’s lips, chin and nose successfully.
