Brain music therapy for insomniacs

insomnia

Each one of us at some point of time or the other has had a sleepless night, for reasons ranging from stress to drinking too much of alcohol or caffeine. Insomnia is a sleep disorder, characterized by the inability to fall asleep or maintain sleep on a regular basis.
Each individual has a different sleep requirement. Some people feel rested even if they have slept for just about four to five hours, but on an average most people require approximately 7.5 hours of sleep.
It is very common nowadays to hear people complaining of how sleep deprived they are. In this modern wired up world people are always short of time. To add fuel to the fire, most of us depend on our daily dose of caffeine, alcohol, sugar, and cigarettes to compensate for a good night’s sleep. Sleep deprivation not only causes mood swings, but also makes us irritable and depressed.
Do you know that about 60 million Americans suffer from insomnia each year? Insomnia generally increases with age, and is more common in women than in men.
University of Toronto’s sleep clinic researchers have found an innovative way to help insomniacs get their daily dose of sleep. They have successfully created music patterned to copy individual brain waves as a way to cure insomnia. Per recording, brain music therapy costs about $550. For the therapy to be successful most patients require two such recordings.
Before you start taking sleeping pills, try and make some simple changes to your daily routine to help you to unwind and relax. You never know, some simple steps may help you to get some sound sleep.
