Black raspberries slows down the growth of skin cancer

have many health benefits 3203

Recent studies have highlighted the tremendous health benefits associated with eating black raspberries.

Black raspberries could be used in the treatment of sunburn and skin cancer. It slows down the growth of cancer cells.

Researchers say — that a topical compound made of black raspberries has been found to slow the growth of squamous cell carcinomas of the skin in mice exposed to ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation.

UVB radiation is thought to be the most dangerous light in the solar spectrum. It inflames the skin causing sunburns and has long been believed to be the cause of most of the non-melanoma skin cancers.

According to the researchers from Ohio State University Medical Center who conducted the study on black raspberries and skin cancer, the anthacayanins in the extract of black raspberries reduced inflammatory damage to the skin and reduced the growth and spread of tumor.

According to Dr. Anne VanBuskirk, an assistant professor of surgery in Ohio State’s College of Medicine and senior author of the study:

These results are provocative. If repeated studies bear out these findings, it could mean that one day we may be seeing a topical gel that could be used after you get sunburned – one that not only eases pain, but also lessens any sun damage you might have already suffered.
