Do you know, measles is responsible for the death of nearly 20,000 children annually in Bangladesh? In view to this, the UN children’s agency, Unicef, started a measles campaign in Bangladesh. It is the biggest such vaccination programme ever undertaken.
Where Unicef estimates nearly 20,000 children a year die from the disease, the campaign is aimed at inoculating 33.5m children in Bangladesh. A joint effort by the Unicef and the Bangladesh government, the campaign will cover children aged between nine months and 10 years in the 20-day program. The event was successfully kicked up on 25 February.
