Attention Please: Darker Skin Avoids Skin Cancer but not Death!

dark skin 2282It is certainly a good point for people with dark skin that they get deeper tans and burn less quickly than the opposite complexion owners. But here, the question is does the former category enjoy protection against skin cancer as well?

Though the answer is ambiguous, yet the claims are bizarre. It has come into light that darker-skinned people face an inferior threat of skin cancer but they are expected to widen more destructive varieties of the disease leading them to death.

Dark skin encloses higher quantities of melanin that can filter double the amount of ultraviolet radiation as paler skin. But that safety still drops short of what doctors recommend when using sunscreen: a skin protection factor (SPF) of 15 or more. Thus, since scores of dark skinned individuals consider that it offers absolute resistance failing to notice early caution signs, they often fall prey to death.

The upshot of the whole story is that blacks relish a lower threat of skin cancer, but are more likely to pass away from it.
