Hey! Lady If you are in your 50s or above but still enjoying your daily dose of alcoholic beverages, then may be it is time to stop it now! Reason? Reason is the findings of a new study. Well, not certain they are, however, ignoring them won’t even be right!
It is long proven that certain factors like obesity, late menopause and early menarche (the beginning of menstruation) raise a woman’s vulnerability to endometrial cancer. And now the new study seems to be propping the fact according to which drinking 2 or more alcoholic beverages daily could shoot up postmenopausal women’s estrogen levels, pushing her closer to the risk of endometrial cancer. In the words of Dr. Veronica Wendy Setiawan, an assistant professor preventive medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles:
…the current results underscore the potential risks of too much alcohol.
Results of the latest study are based on an analysis of eight-year long study of 41,574 postmenopausal women. According to this study, women with 2 or more alcoholic drinks daily reported almost double risk of developing endometrial cancer than non drinkers.
It is right that experts themselves are not very certain about these findings. However, it could be taken as major evidence while proving direct cause-and-effect relationship between alcohol and endometrial caner, especially among older women.
So, lady now you have to decide which should come first for you; your health or daily dose of alcoholic beverages.
