6 Top active ingredients to fight acne

Acne Skincare

There are many acne-treating products in the shops today. But we are all confused each time and do not know which one to choose. All these products promise effective results but only some of them really work as promised. What makes these products effective?

What kinds of products you should choose? Why are some products better than others? Most of these contain some active items that are responsible for curing the breakouts.

1. Alpha-hydroxy acids
Alpha-hydroxy acids scrap the dead cells from the facial skin which is the main cause for acne and blocking the pores. They improve the texture of your facial skin. You can apply them all over your face. Some of the different types of AHAs are lactic acid and glycolic acid. Many people suffering from acne use the AHAs for curing the breakouts.

2. Benzoyl peroxide
Experts believe that it is the most functional ingredients for treating and preventing acne. It removes excess oil, kills bacteria, and also exfoliates the dead skin cells. The ingredient is usually found in different strengths varying from 2.5-10 percent. It is used in most of the acne treating products such as creams, lotions, cleansers, spot cures, and gels. Use products that are favorable to your skin.

3. Clay
When you say clay what comes to our minds is pottery. However, a kind of soft clay is also used for treating acne due to its calming effects. It is usually used in facial masks. It provides a soothing effect and is also anti-inflammatory. Clay is good for the skin and prevents the formation of oil.

4. Salicylic acid
This exfoliate is responsible for clearing the pores by exfoliating the hair follicles. Salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties and is beneficial than glycolic acid. Look for 2 % salicylic acid in the medicines you like to use.

5. Sulfur
Sulfur can decrease oil and the inflammation from the skin. It also removes the dead skin cells. Sulfur is used by those who have certain problems like rosacea and acne. The ‘rotten egg’ smelling component may not be giving a pleasant feel as its result. So products that use sulfur usually have many other things for stopping the unpleasant smell.

6. Tea-tree oil
This special oil is a well known natural scar fighter. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that calm acne. According to research, products with 5 percent tea tree oil have the same results of products that have 5 percent benzoyl peroxide. This oil can be sensitive on certain skins. You should not use it when you have skin rashes.

Most of us want to escape from this embarrassing problem. We should buy a product according to our skin type. If you are allergic to any ingredient, avoid buying that particular product.
