The 3 day diet, also called the “Military diet”, is very popular short term diet based on calorie reduction. Although you will lose weight after this rapid diet, unfortunately you will get it back when you return to the old eating habits.
Still the diet is recommend when you need to go at a special event, after the holidays to get back in shape and whenever you consider it necessary without abusing it.
Here is what you need to eat:
DAY 1
Breakfast –
Black coffee or tea or water
1/2 Grapefruit or Juice
1 slice toast with 1 Tbsp Peanut Butter
Lunch –
1/2 Cup of Tuna
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea or water
Dinner –
3 oz. any lean meat
1 cup green beans
1 cup carrots
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1 medium apple
Black coffee or tea or water
DAY 2
Breakfast –
Black coffee or tea or water
1 egg (any style)
1 slice toast
1 banana
Lunch –
1 cup 2% cottage cheese
5 saltine crackers
Black coffee or tea or water
Dinner –
2 beef franks or hot dogs
1/2 cup carrots
1 banana
1 cup broccoli or cabbage
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or teaor water
DAY 3
Breakfast –
Black coffee or tea or water
5 regular saltine crackers
1 oz.(slice) cheddar cheese
1 small apple
Lunch –
1 hard boiled egg
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea or water
Dinner –
1 cup tuna
1 cup carrots
1 cup cauliflower
1 cup melon
1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream

If you don’t like some of the ingredients above the list of food substitutions might come in handy.
INSTEAD OF:
- Tea/coffee – Any kind of tea or coffee is allowed or you can simply drink water instead.
- Cheddar/ Cottage Cheese – 2 eggs or 2 ounces of ham cold cuts
- Apple – A pear, a peach, a nectarine, a grape
- Carrots – A small beet root salad or a bell pepper salad
- Green beans – Same amount of spinach or tomatoes
- Broccoli – Same amount of brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage
- Egg – 1 chicken wing, a cup of milk, 2 slices of bacon
- Ice cream – Same amount of frozen yogurt, fruity yogurt
- Peanut Butter – Any seed butter
- Tuna – Same amount of cottage cheese, tofu, pumpkin seeds, 30 almonds or peanuts
- Hotdogs – 1/2 cup of beans/lentils
- Toast – 5 crackers, 1/2 protein bar, 1/2 cup of whole grain cereals
- Banana – 2 apricots, 1 kiwi, one cup of papaya sliced
- Grapefruit – Drink 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water a half hour before eating any other fruit
Diet additional allowed:
– Lemon
– Salt/pepper (just a dash)
– Mustard
– Gum/mints (sugar-free)
This diet is known as the Military diet not because it’s hard to follow, but because it demands you to do some exercise for better results. In the army you don’t find those people sitting on their rumps!
Try to incorporate 1 hour of exercise on at least two of the days when you are dieting. And if you continue with the exercises after these 3 days you won’t regain your previous weight as easily – how wonderful is that ?!
