Grow with Dr Prem

The launch of iPad has surely raised the bar in the tablet design and technology. Several companies launched their Tabs at considerably low prices and better technologies, but it wasn’t enough to shake the throne of Apple’s iPad in the Tablet market. After the emergence of iPad 2 in the market, Samsung has also launched its new Tablet, Galaxy 10.1. In this article, we’re going to review the Tab which is much lighter and almost as thin as Apple’s sequel.

The Tab

With Galaxy 10.1 Tab, Samsung has offered Honeycomb powered tablet for the very first time with a beautiful and sleek design. Galaxy 10.1 resembles iPad 2 at a great extent and the difference between the two is very minute. It has a 16:9 screen shape and measures 8.6mm thick, which makes it 0.2mm thinner than the iPad2. It also carries the weight bit better and even than the iPad.

Technology and Working

The Galaxy 10.1 Tab is a marvel of engineering and comes with Dual-core NVIDIA Tegra processor, 16GB Internal Memory and uses the latest Android 3.1 OS, also known as, Honeycomb. This new Operating System has some very interesting and unique features unlike other Oss. Honeycomb offers the high level of personalization and improved navigation which one doesn’t get with iPad 2. The Galaxy 10.1 Tab also returns a good battery life than the iPad 2 (600mAh), it offers a 700mAh battery, which can last up to 9 hours for everyday use. If you’re a gaming freak, and likes to play games on your tab, Galaxy 10.1 has a gyro and four way motion sensors to have better control while playing. Great side dual speakers help in playing smooth and clear music and movie audio. It has a built in 3MP rear camera and 2MP front facing camera. Moreover, the touch response is also unbeatable.

High Points

The Galaxy 10.1 Tab wins on many points when compared with iPad 2 and other tablets available in the market. It is the best Honeycomb tablet ever available in the market. The touch response is outstanding and a 10.1 wide screen offers crisp, clear and bright display. Furthermore, it’s quite slim and great looking Tab. It uses the best version of Honeycomb 3.1 with zero customization to its interface. You could rely on the main home screen of the Tab, as it provides five separate screens for you to position your stuffs. It also responds to quick rotation and turns while playing games, thanks to the presence of four way accelerometer (whereas, iPad 2 uses three way accelerometer).

Shortcomings

The biggest flaw in the Galaxy 10.1 Tab, is that it doesn’t have a USB or HDMI ports, and because of its absence, it cannot take the full advantage of the new Honeycomb OS. It even lacks ports for SD cards or SIM cards. Another big disadvantage of Galaxy 10.1 is its plastic back, which makes it little uncomfortable in our hands.

Price

The price for the Galaxy 10.1 Tab is exactly same as the iPad 2. The 16 GB Tab comes at the price of $499 whereas, you’ll have to shed $100 extra for 32GB Tab.

At the end, the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab is the best Honeycomb tablet till the date. The Hardware is excellent and it even outshines Apple’s iPad 2 in some features. If you want a good looking and slickest Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 is worth a buy.
