Music is evolving day by day and so are the devices. Audience has been flexible in accepting these genres of music. People have found different means and ways to produce music. It has evolved from music that produced from simple drums to electronic music devices. It’s no more just music for people. It’s about their passion and love for modernized devices. And here comes an addition to the modern music composition, QuNeo multi touch music pad. This is a special dedication to the VJs, DJs, DIY hackers and the electronic musicians who are actively involved in modern way of producing music. This electronic device functions in way that makes it stand apart to the current devices which are available in the market. It is sure to impress you. It looks like the iPad. What is it?

QuNeo is a pad controller that includes features of other pad controllers as well as additional features too. It consists of 27 pads, rotary sensors and sliders which are sensitive to pressure, velocity and location. These pads have the ability to perform 100 functions. There are 251 multi colored LEDs at back of pads. These are responsible how each pad works. It even produces colors as a response to striking the pad or lights up to let one know the level to be set. The most important of all, they have made their minds to open source the software and make API so that people can avail, at the launch.

As been mentioned earlier it has looks similar to iPad, it has same dimensions too. This makes it to fit in the stands that are available in the market. So if you have one, no need to buy another. It controls the MIDI hardware. One can easily pair up QuNeo with the software one wants. It is easy working just like Akai or Korg pad controllers. It provides 64 notes along with LEDs and pressure as mentioned before just like Monome and Novation. Programmers can avail this developing their own code which will respond to the sensors. Makers have provided full opportunity to learn and develop by making API which will be available at the launch.

1. QuNeo has tactile pads, rotary sensors, sliders and switches. These are very sensitive to pressure, location and velocity. It has 17 switches which respond when one presses it.

2. At the back of the pads, there are 251 multi colored LEDs attached to it. They are very responsive and it gives enough of information. It’s a perfect combination of light, sound and feel.

3. It has 16 trigger square pads with velocity response up to 127 levels. It is pressure sensitive too.

4. It has two rotary sensors. It can scrub, pinch, trigger, stretch, play sound and phrases and even allows one to manipulate with the controllers. It can measure angle, pressure as well as distance.

5. It has nine sliders which are sensitive to touch. It can be mapped to effect and fader controls. The multi touch allows one to set lengths in between fingers so that stereo and resonance effects can be set. A track can be muted or toggled by just tapping on a slider.

6. Switches help in selecting samples transport controls and fader banks. These can be used to scan the files with variable speeds sensitive to touch. It is great for locating quickly.

7. Dimensions of the QuNeo are same as that of the iPad. They are small and sleek. It even looks the same. Well what matters is that it can fit in the well in the stands which are already available in the market.

What’s innovative?

The multi sliders are the special attraction of this pad controller. There are 9 sliders which are sensitive to touch. LEDs in sliders behave as VU meters.

Price and availability:

QuNeo could be yours in just $200 or $375 for a pair. They are not yet launched but one can expect it in the near future.

The up side:

QuNeo is very different from the other pad controllers. These have features as all pad controllers have but apart from these it has other functions too. This adds a feather to it

The down side

It would be very early to give any opinion about the device. Unless it completely establishes itself, no one knows how market will respond to it.
