The launched
TV One has introduced a new multi-format, dual 7″ color LCD monitor for the broadcast and professional markets. Named as LM-702HDA , the dual LCD monitor features many new innovations introduced by the manufacturers for a better than ever visual experience. Although the company intends to limit the use of the new monitor for broadcast and professional markets only, the small size of the 7″ screen would make it ideal for use in small spaces like shops and cars. It can accurately monitor a multitude of video signal format and provide high brightness, wide viewing angle to the users, an excellent contrast ratio and high definition color for displaying outstanding images. Some other important features of the new LCD monitor have been discussed here in detail.
Functionality
The LM-702 HDA monitor requires an external power supply of 100-240 VAC at 36 watt for 12 VDC. The 7″ LCD monitor has a display area of 153 x 90mm and provides high quality images at 1024 x 600 (16:9) resolution. As said in the beginning, the screen has a very high contrast ratio of 400:1 and resolves around 262,000 colors in about 20msec to make your visual experience better. An on-screen display(OSD) menu allows you to control all the necessary parameters like brightness, color, sharpness, RGB color level and contrast for best monitor performance according to your visual taste. All the changes done on the initial-settings can be viewed on the OSD.
The new monitor also has many functional modes to facilitate better viewing. For example, a Blue Only mode helps in to set up the monitor accurately while you are viewing the color bars. Also, a Sync Delay (Pulse Cross) mode allows you to view the vertical and horizontal sync and vertical banking levels. For best viewing angles, the company has provided an additional rack mount kit which can be adjusted manually. Inputs for HD/SD-SDI with an active output, an analog RGBHV, YpbPr component video, a composite video and YC input have been provided additionally. The monitor also supports and automatically detects the internationally accepted NTSC and PAL Television Standards for color encoding.
What to expect
Expect best visuals on a small screen. All the technical functional details discussed above are enough to provide for this. Besides, there is a long track record of TV One in manufacturing outstanding LCD monitors on which you can rely if planning to purchase. Also, expect that the LCD monitor will last for a fairly long time to prove value for your money. The company is providing three-year limited manufacturer warranty for the parts of unit, of course, not for the LCD panel as you may except. Besides, there are some accessories on the offer along with the LCD unit. These include a power adapter, operations manual for your comfort, and screws for the rack mount.
What not to expect
This is not for you if size matters the most. The small 7″ dual LCD monitor will be ideal for small spaces, broadcasting for surveillance and other professional use. But not suitable for your large living room. Also, it is not for you if you are looking for an advanced 3D compatible monitor. TV One’s new screen is essentially a 2D display. The wide angle view only help project the 2D images in accordance with the position of your eye level.
Wrap up
LCD monitors are facing stiff competition from the new Plasma technology. There is also a challenge from new monitors compatible with 3D technology. However, the LCD technology has an advantage over the Plasma technology in terms of the production costs. This has prompted many manufacturers to focus on better performance instead of the size, as was the trend a few years earlier. They are now improving the screen resolution, providing bright colors and infinite contrast ratio for enhancing user experience and to meet the competition with the Plasma counterparts. And, apart from these two, the market is already flooded with many small LCD monitors to make it difficult for you to chose the best.
Seen in the light of the above, LM-702 HDA monitor offers one of the best display for an LCD monitor which is certainly way ahead of the competitors. It can be called a second generation LCD screen. The dual screen concept is unique and it makes the monitor useful for multiple purposes.
