In the recent ATM conference held in London, two new ATM concepts were considered to possess the potential of replacing the existing cash machines in the near future. One of them is a next generation cash machine from an American security firm called Diebold and another is a creation of Wincor Nixdorf from Germany.
The functioning of the Diebold cash machine is similar to a tablet computer which is installed with built-in safety cameras and uses facial recognition technology and QR codes for identifying and authenticating their users. The ultra-modern design along with its functioning menus and control systems are also inspired by the current designs of Smartphones and tablets. The machine is completely paperless as it sends the receipt through email or text message to the user’s phone. Debuting for the first time in January this year at the CES in Las Vegas, this Diebold creation can connect instantly to your mobile device when you scan your onscreen QR code. This system allows the ATM to identify the user by using a certain cloud-based service and without even needing the bankcard. This ATM even allows its users to set up an advanced transaction so that the user can send money to another person without any inconvenience. Regarding size, this ATM machine is much smaller than the traditional ATMs around the world. Diebold hints at bringing this next generation cash machine to the market within one and a half year from now.
On the other hand, the ATM machine created by the German firm Wincor Nixdorf comes equipped with a special technology, which can display the user’s personal profile instantly after entering their bankcard. Taking as much less time as possible for giving you the cash, the machine also shows you the recent transactions while displaying your profile. Your personal profile displayed on the cash machine will also include special options for personalizing your transaction history with your bank card. For example, if your regular withdrawal money is $20 then the machine will present to you this amount as your first withdrawal option. This system will hasten the process of withdrawing money and will give you the cash in minimum time. Besides creating this highly advanced cash machine, Wincor Nixdorf has also created its own personal app store in order to help their customers with efficient mobile payment.
However, besides the cash machines of Diebold and Wincor Nixdorf, the ATM conference also showcased other machines which included live video screen for directly contacting with the customer services and also some highly convenient drive-through ATMs.
