LG Lifeband Touch – Review

Grow with Dr Prem

In the wearable gadgets market, LG has recently made its entry with Lifeband Touch. This multipurpose computerized wristband keeps track of fitness factors and remains synchronized with your iPad, iPhone or Android device. Launched recently in the US, this gadget will soon be available in Europe and Asia.

Performance

The new wristband from LG acts as a good fitness tracker, while its performance goes low on some factors like offering alerts and notifications. It tracks a user’s workout pattern, but fails when it comes to motivating them in a customized manner and according to their daily schedule. Else, it provides accurate real-time information on all fitness measures. This gadget comes with a 90 mAh battery that performs really well while allowing usage for up to 5-6 days.

Appearance

LG Lifeband Touch can be synced through Bluetooth with the LG Fitness app on your Smartphone so it may give you fitness tracks, as well as call and email alerts. This wristband can also control music on an iPhone or Android device. It has a 0.9-inch OLED screen with touch features. However, its black and white display (32×128 pixels) may not be too appealing to some users. This gadget has a plastic band that can be bent to wear it on your wrist. One may choose out of medium, large and extra-large band sizes. Some users may miss the regular strap feature available in other wristbands.

Usefulness

For fitness freaks, this device is quite helpful in tracking several fitness measures, including distance covered, speed of workout and calories burnt. When accompanied with an earphone, Lifeband Touch can also track heart rate. It is useful in tracking the steps you take throughout a day. While it has a vibrator that alerts on partial and full fitness goal achievement, it actually distracts a user through its random alerts. Additionally, its email alerts are only useful for Android device users. The screen display of this device makes it difficult to view content under bright sunlight. Thus, we can say that its usefulness is restricted to conditions and settings.

Ease of use

Although it is easy to wear Lifeband Touch without a strap, one may find it dangling at times. Not every user’s wrist may adjust to it. Additionally, its weight (varying between 49.9 and 53.1 grams) may seem significant to some users who need to do typing and writing work while wearing it.

Value for money

At $150, this device seems to be a little expensive as compared to similar gadgets with more enhanced features.
