Easiest ways to tell if your Bose headphones are fake

Grow with Dr Prem

When it comes to sound, Bose has a great reputation. It delivers the best and surreal sound experience. However, this falls on the costlier side making it prone to duplicity. Market is flooded with so many duplicate headphones that identifying the original is a big task. The task gets even tougher with proper internet portals selling the fake ones. There are several ways to find the originals. Here are few simple tricks to identify the original from the duplicate:

1. The metal effect grille

The metal effect grille is completely dull and non-reflective in originals while it is very shiny in case of duplicate ones. This is the easiest way to identify the fakes.

2. The number code behind the silicon bud

When you remove the silicon buds from left earpiece, there are four numbers coded on the surface of earpiece. In case of original phones, the numbers are centered, prominent and professionally printed. The fake ones have light prints and are often of different sizes. They can be easily identified with this.

3. Outer packaging

The outer packaging is another way to track the originality. The original ones have high contrast printing than the duplicate ones. The picture of the woman printed on the cover is more prominent in original when compared with the light picture of the duplicate. The fonts of original are narrower and lesser bold when compared to duplicates. The fonts even have a yellowish tint in case or originals, which is either missing or is light greenish in case of duplicates.

4. Confirm the serial number

You can always call the Bose helpline number and confirm the originality by tallying its serial number and make with the owner. Every product is cataloged and has a different serial number.

5. Cheap is fake

As I said, originals are very costly, so if you are getting a cheaper version than you are certainly buying the fake ones.

6. Warranty cards are prominent

The warranty cards with the originals are printed prominently on thick piece of paper with a serial number sticker on it while the duplicates ones do not have any serial number stickers on them.

7. Lanyards

The originals will always be accompanied with lanyards while the duplicated ones do not have them with the packaging.

8. Carrying case

The Bose emblem is printed prominently on dead center of the carrying case while the duplicate ones do not have them on center most of the time. Even, the quality of leather of carrying case can be a good identifier.

9. Earpieces

In case of originals, the earpieces are shiny, prominent and of same shape, giving equal intensity of sound on both ends while the fake ones are not properly shaped and have a mat finish dull plastic body. In original, both earpieces have holes on them while in fakes only one has a hole.

10. Holograms

The black round piece on wires of originals carry the Bose holographic sticker while the fakes only have Bose printed on them.

11. Check the sound quality

This test is very tough but you can always identify the original by its sound quality and comfort while wearing them. It has a soothing experience and does not have bass breakdowns at higher volume.
