Motorola has, finally, launched the much awaited Droid Bionic on Verizon network. The phone which generated a lot of buzz even before its release, certainly, possesses the pedigree to be a huge hit among prospective buyers. Motorola had planned to launch this phone earlier this year at the CES in Las Vegas. Later, they decided against this as they wanted to add some additional features in it. So, we can say with surety that this phone is, now, armed to the teeth to battle it out in the ever expanding arena of smart phones.

Features:

Well, to say that that Motorola Droid Bionic is packed with features would be an understatement. Instead, it is stuffed with them. The phone’s USP is its lightening fast speed which is attributed to the fact that it is the first phone to incorporate, both, a dual core processor and Verizon’s 4G LTE. If that’s not enough, the phone’s 1GB DDR-2 RAM will, surely, blow you away.

The Droid Bionic’s 4.3 inch qHD display with 960×540 pixel resolution will not fail to impress you one bit. The phone is the first 4G LTE handset that features 1080p video recording capabilities. This feature is highlighted, even further, by the fact that you can enjoy your high definition videos on TV courtesy the HDMI Mirroring Mode.

One of the most powerful features of the Droid Bionic is the Webtop application. Simply connect your phone to any of the three accessories namely laptop dock, HD station and Webtop adaptor and you can easily access the Webtop platform. This feature is great for business centric users.

The Droid Bionic sports an 8 megapixel rear camera with single LED flash and a 0.3 megapixel VGA camera at the front. The slight shutter lag in the rear camera might prove to be an irritant to a few. The smart phone has 16 GB of internal memory and ships with a 16GB microSD card. Another highlight of the phone is its OS which is the latest Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and not the usual 2.2 version.

Motorola’s claim about the Droid Bionic that its business ready is fortified by the presence of features such as scrollable and resizable e-mail, calendar syncing, and, enhanced security features that enable you to encrypt, both, the SD card and the device.

High points:

1. The super fast processing combined with ultra fast browsing makes it a gem of a smart phone.

2. The slim and sleek design of the Droid Bionic is a great asset for any smart phone user.

3. The phone is an all-rounder all the way because it has features in plentiful for the multimedia mogul as well as the business tycoon.

4. The longevity of the battery is a striking feature which is a towering 10.8 hours of talk time and standby time 10.4 days

5. ZumoCast is, probably, the best preloaded application which will enable you to access your PC’s documents, videos and songs.

Low points:

The phone’s user interface is not as smooth and may not be to everybody’s liking. Also, the slight shutter lag and the big price tag which comes attached with the Droid Bionic are the only eccentricities of this phone. The Webtop accessories, although very useful, are not cheap as well.

Price:

The Droid Bionic’s full retail price is $589.99 but you can buy one for $299.99 but at the cost of a two year service agreement with Verizon Wireless which in itself is quite overpriced.
