What not to do for your interiors during Christmas

Christmas is all about festivities , cheer and of course decorations. While most of us look forward to decorating our homes for Christmas, some ideas are a big no no. Here are some tips to avoid doing the unnecessary when it comes to decorating your interiors for Christmas .

What not to do for your interiors during Christmas

  • Do not go overboard – While decorating, we might tend to go a little overboard with all the decorations. Avoid doing that at all costs. Minimal works best. All your glittery ornaments will just be glaring to the eyes if you use it excessively. Instead, opt for creative ways to use all of them like placing them in a bowl or a cylinder and use them as decorations. They will look organized and festive at the same time.
  • Safety first – Twinkling lights are symbolic of the festive season. Do not let them be a safety hazard. Always inspect your lights for any loose wires or bulbs to ensure safety, when you are purchasing new ones or even when you bring out the decorations packed away from last year. Protect yourself and your dear ones.
  • Do not mix the glitter – Glitter is essential when it comes to decorations and especially the ones for Christmas. But never mix two kinds or more of glitter. Choose one and let it be the centre of attention. If you opt for golden, go with that, if silver, that’s great too . But silver and gold together? Strict no-no.
  • Never hold back on the silver – If you don’t use the good china and silverware on Christmas, when will you do that? You can economize on everything else but do not cheap out on the dishes. Same goes for the candle-stands and holders, especially if they are supposed to be the centerpiece or are placed on the mantel, since that will be the focal point. You can add personality to your candles by going for shades in green or red to bring out the Christmas essence instead of going with good old white.
  • The Christmas tree – Perhaps the most important part of Christmas decorations, the tree can be a hassle if you do not how to decorate it properly. Make sure you do not just keep putting more and more baubles atop it . Make it look tasteful and aesthetically pleasing with going for only a few time-treasured ornaments in silver or golden complementing the rest of the colors. Remember that a tree does not necessarily have to be green. You can opt for an all-white one which is as equally appealing. Even when it comes to the rest of the decorations, do not limit yourself to only red, green, golden and silver.
