  • Before you start planting your garden, you should first make it clear as what do you expect your garden to be like and then go on with the materials required to plant or design the garden. Although you can use almost any sort of material and containers, it is better to chose materials that are easy to work with. While choosing the container, keep in mind the type of plant and its growth. The kind of plants and their containers you select will greatly influence the appearance of your garden. If you choose the right gardening stuff, it will make the landscape designing fun and easy. You can plant trees, shrubs, tall ornamental grasses and even add structural features like gazebo, archway or a pond.
  • Position your container according to the type of the plant. Having containers is beneficial, as you can place them anywhere in the garden where the conditions required for proper growth of the plant are optimum. Add proper fertilizers and nutrients to the soil in order to achieve healthy plant growth. You can also try crop rotation, as it helps in restoring the nutrient content of the soil and makes it fertile. While growing plants inside pots, be careful not to choose garden soil as it is heavy and can affect the root growth adversely.
  • Many people tend to grow their own vegetables in their garden due to the increasing soil pollution because of excessive use of fertilizers and their harmful side effects. Hence, if you are planning a vegetable garden, choose an appropriate location. You must keep certain things like the size of the garden, availability of sunlight, fertile soil and water supply in mind before finally growing a vegetable garden. It is recommended to have a small garden size initially and then to expand it gradually.
  • While doing vegetable gardening, you must select the plants or vegetables depending on the type of the soil and the local climatic conditions. Taller plants should be placed backwards whereas the shorter ones should find a front place, so that they receive proper sunlight. Protect the garden with a fence to keep away pests that destroy the plants. Raised beds that provide good internal drainage and are good for the roots should be preferred. The more you care, the healthier is your garden.
  • A garden is not just another place of your house; rather it displays your love for nature, neatness and perfection. Thus, in order to be presentable, you need to walk an extra mile while maintaining your garden. A lovely garden requires regular tilling of soil, application of organic fertilizers, chemical insecticides and frequent weeding. These will make your garden look beautiful, keep it safe from harmful pests, insects and plant diseases, and prevent the competition from other plants for food and nutrition respectively.
  • You can make your garden colorful by planting a group of vivid plants like lilies, feather reed grass and conifers together. These plants create an eye-catching contrast and make your garden green and attractive.
