Tel Aviv Mediterranean becoming a ‘septic tank’!

telavivcoast

Water pollution has been on the rise in and around the Tel Aviv area of Israel. With the government licensed to discharge waste products like, heavy metals and pesticides into the sea, the Mediterranean around the Tel Aviv area is slowly becoming a septic tank!

The waste disposed by the 2.5 million people from the surrounding residential area is what pollutes the Israeli marine area. The Mediterranean coasts bordering the 21 countries have the same problem. However for Israel, security comes first and environment comes last.

This state of affairs is not acceptable! I hope the Israelis do something soon, enough to improve the situation. Due to this pollution, people living right along the coastline haven’t taken a dip in the polluter ocean water for several years. The latest U.N. marine pollution report placed Tel Aviv as one of the 10 most polluting environmental center.

The problem lies in the legal system, the corrupted ministry and the industrial sector. When it comes to marine environment in Israel, there’s no solutions. Although the Minister Gideon Ezra is working on saving the environment, he won’t be able to do so without backup from the Israeli media or the press and other departments involved. Hopefully, the Mediterranean around Tel Aviv will be saved pretty soon.
