Covering almost 1800 miles over six long months, the Peoples Projects Foundation’s next May’s trip from Stockholm to Barcelona will put a fleet of three solar-powered boats carrying a solar truck, solar ATV with trailer and a solar car to some taxing marine conditions. The main solar-powered boat – a scaled-down replica of Van Ersel’s forthcoming Solar Circumnavigator – will cruise at a speed of 15 miles a day.

Anyhow, it’s not a matter of speed. Rather, it’s the green intent exhibited by the Amsterdam-based organizer; that is worth the praise. The solar-powered fleet includes both tested ones and some fairly new entrants.
The convoy, including 10 crew-members (a multilingual musician, a tumbler-juggler, documentary filmmakers and others) and 18 paying passengers, will share its experience with public at major cities in seven European countries.
