Chirk Castle, built back in the late 13th century near Llangollen, has recently got its roof decked with solar panels. Now, with the sleek panels installed, the Castle will save 8,000 kw of energy a year. Especially during summers, the solar thermal system will take care of hot water supply. The National Trust in Wales, the legal owner of the castle, made the green makeover possible.
Chris James, the solar expert with npower, says, realizing the difference it is going to make in the end:
The residents of Chirk Castle will notice both financial and environmental benefits once the panels have been installed which will ultimately decrease both energy consumption and, in turn, energy bills.
