When drought hit Australia they seek divine help, whom would Los Angeles’ residents turn to?
Well at the moment drought hit LA is looking to negate the effects at its end and even the authorities have been asking to use water more judiciously. Be it taking a shower, watering the garden or anything else people are being advised to go easy with water. These unprecedented measures have been put to force as the drought like conditions have worsen in the region.
LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said:
The city needs to change course and conserve water to steer clear of this perfect storm.
The soaring temperature is also causing fire at many places. In May alone, first it was Los Angeles landmark Griffith Park where fire erupted for no apparent reason and then it was Catalina island, where fire gulfed acres of forest. As a matter of fact in 2006, LA received four inches less rain which effected the entire water supply. In fact last year was the driest year since rainfall records began 130 years ago. Even the Eastern Sierra Mountains, where Los Angeles gets a chunk of its water supply is showing the signs of deficient water.
Is it global warming which has forced rain to bypass LA? Well, if it global warming then LA must be ready for more trouble in the future.
