How to protect your child from allergies?

Allergies are very common in infants and children, and if not taken seriously, it might turn into a serious health issue. As a responsible parent, it is your duty to provide enough protection to your child so that he/she does not get vulnerable to allergic reactions. Here are a few preventive measures to ensure that your baby is not at risk of an allergy:

Avoid Allergic Foods

First of all, have a close look at the eating habit of your child and find out the foods that he/she is allergic to. According to researchers, food allergy is the most common type of allergy in kids and 1 in every 20 kids in the world suffer from this. It has been seen that eggs, milk, shrimps, soybeans, peanuts, etc. are some of the foodstuffs that are most likely to cause this problem. So, get in touch with your pediatrician and stop offering such items to your baby.

Keep Your Home Dust-Free

Dust is another factor that triggers allergic reactions in kids to a large extent. The bed sheets and pillow covers of your baby might turn out to be the biggest culprits as they hold lots of dust mites as well as other microscopic organisms. Always use plastic casings for the mattress and pillows of your baby. Also, the bed linens should be washed and cleaned in hot water every week in order to get rid of dust molecules.

Stop Using Carpets

Carpets also trap a lot of dusts and make your child prone to serious allergic reactions. It is advisable that you remove all carpets from your house and switch to wooden floorings, washable and movable throw rugs, eco-friendly linoleum, and so on. Basements, washrooms, and other damp areas should also not contain any carpet as it can speed up the mold generation and promote allergies.

Get Rid of Pets

Well, if you are a pet lover, this will surely going to be the toughest part of your task. But you have to do this for the sake of your cute little one. Animals having furs or feathers can result into severe allergies in your baby as their dead skin flakes are found here and there inside the house. On the other hand, pets which do not have hair can also leave your kid with minor allergies like sneezing, panting, etc. So, just get rid of them and help your baby stay healthy.
