The Tokyo Motor Show is still a month away, but the list of eco-friendly cars and concepts is really puffing up with each passing day. Yesterday, we highlighted Subaru’s Hybrid Tourer Concept and Mazda’s Kiyora Concept Car. Now this time around, Honda is all set to make its presence felt with the proposed launch of its CR-Z hybrid sports car and the EV-N Retro Electric modeled after the N600 from the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.
Hoping to make inroads into the Japanese market in Q1 of 2010, the CR-Z sports coupe will come equipped with a 1.5 liter four-cylinder, an integrated Motor Assist hybrid drivetrain, six-speed manual and a CVT (continuously variable transmission) system that allows the engine speed to remain at its level of peak efficiency.
The second entrant is the EV-N Retro Electric. The micro car has a high-tech electric motor and a battery pack. Keeping the luxury-loving customers in mind, Honda has outfitted it with swappable seat fabrics, a solar roof and an integrated communications system.
