It may not be possible to stop carbon emissions completely but we can surely reduce the stupendously high rates of carbon pollution with conscious efforts. For this, every individual will have to decrease his or her carbon footprint. Whenever we burn petrol, diesel, natural gas and coal, they produce high amount of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a Green House Gas that mixes with the atmosphere and absorbs large quantity of heat from the sun. This heat gets stored in the carbon dioxide molecules and increases the average temperature of earth. If the average temperature of earth continues to rise, the day is not too far when the entire human race will be extinct due to global warming.

However, you can take some easy steps to change the scenario. For example, you should start using only compact fluorescent bulbs. The light bulbs we use generally in our houses cause carbon dioxide pollution. Every compact fluorescent light bulb you use can stop 1,300 pounds of carbon dioxide from mixing with the environment.
If you are concerned about the environment then you should start using your home appliances and gadgets more carefully. Always turn off computers, lights and switch off cell phones when not in use. Remove the chargers from plug points when they are not in use. This way you can reduce the carbon emissions effectively and save around $100 on energy bills annually as well.
Change the way you commute. Instead of using your car every time, try walking to the nearby places. This way you will also get some exercise. A car pool system can reduce transportation expenses and carbon emissions at the same time. You can also use public transport like the bus and train. Buy energy efficient laptops instead of desktops. Energy Star has claimed that laptops are 80% more energy efficient than the desktops.

Saving energy is synonymous to reducing your carbon footprint. Buying vegetable from the local vendors and eating produce that has been cultivated locally can reduce your carbon footprint as well. Vegetables have to be transported from far away places in huge vehicles that emit carbon dioxide. Eating local produce can change the scenario. Never neglect the importance of planting trees. Plants absorb carbon dioxide to produce food and oxygen through photosynthesis. The more plants you sow, the better it is for our global environment.
