Green campaigner plans world tour in chip oil powered bus

Green campaigner plans

Andy Pag has done it before. However, this time around he plans an across-the-board adventure. While traversing across the globe in a chip oil powered bus, his Bio Truck Expedition will learn different countries’ use of fuels. The truck used for the purpose is made from a scrapped school bus. Andy has modified its engine to make it compatible with the novel fuel i.e. used cooking oil.

By 2050 the experts say we’ll each have to be emitting less than 2 tons of CO2 per year to avoid the worst effects of manmade climate change. In the UK we currently emit around 10-13 tons. I’m curious to see what people in other countries are doing about their footprint, and to see if it’s possible to travel around the world emitting less than 2 tons myself, by using energy-from-waste and other technology.

And he seems to be pretty serious… Getting ample support from Terra-Ambiente in avoiding any use of fossil fuel, he utilizes solar power, woodgas, low energy LED lights and a Separett waterless composting toilet. The truck has an on board Zuwa collection pump, Greenfuel tanks and an Oilybits filtering system. Moreover, to ensure improved mileage, there are EcoVolt solar panels on the roof to power a Magdrive hydrogen generator. The Clean Diesel Technology Particulate Filter checks exhaust emissions. The fully loaded bio truck does 5000 miles (8000km).

The eco-truck has undergone a fabulous graffiti-work by the Graffiti Kings, a collective of graffiti artists based in South Norwood.
