Glass artist Frabel exhibits amazing art at Phipps

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is nowadays exhibiting the unitary glass designs by Hans Godo Frabel. The exhibition dubbed ‘Life in the Gardens: Fräbel Glass at Phipps’ displays some blustery statues, iconic glass figures crafted from clear borosilicate glass. The visitors can see the Glass Clowns balancing on spheres, Longfellows, endangered frogs and lizards, and multicolored spheres hanging from ceilings mimicking the green ambiance around. More than 185 glass sculptures are there.

The German-American artist has been successful in creating quite a buzz around Pittsburgh. Especially for the ‘Large Cube with Imploding Glass Spheres, which is the eight-foot-by-eight-foot structure with an illuminated center, undeniably is the best of them all. His patrons include Queen Elizabeth II, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Now, that is quite impressive a list of his clienteles.
