Fuel from recycled bras? Truly novel form of renewable energy!

bra recycling

Yes, it sounds a bit weird! Still, it is always better to recycle what you do not need any more. Accordingly, Japan’s leading underwear manufacturer, Wacol, started a nationwide campaign to recycle old used bras, which was responded well to by the country’s eco-minded females. The 350 bags full of over 35,900 old used bras collected during the campaign are now set to be recycled into solid fuel.

Weighing in at approx. 3.59 tons, the colossal move truly depicts Japanese eco-sense. Since Japan’s isn’t that liberal a society, women prefer keeping their secret possessions to themselves rather than dumping these in public. Therefore, it was but natural for them to take advantage of the campaign that ensured full secrecy while casting off their very personal apparel.
