Environmental learning for kids goes on road in Yountville

napa valley museums trunk program

Kids, who visit the Napa Valley Museum, in Yountville, don’t remain just the mute spectators. Rather, they are enlightened on what recycling means, thanks to some serious efforts from Pat Alexander, who is the coordinator, instructor and a guide to the Bel Aire Park Elementary School fifth graders, and the Trunk Program, an educational outreach effort by the museum that includes 11 trunk themes on Napa Valley.

Along with the recycling, kids also get valuable info on the Wappo Indians, the Chinese, the Napa River, women’s history, La Maleta Mexicana, and geology. The program lasting an hour includes the use of various visual aids that makes the entire session a pleasurable one. Children imbibe mantras on eco-friendly living, such as to reduce, reuse and recycle, and so on.
