Discoveries that are more new have been made from the Jurassic world of giants. A postgraduate student of Bristol University discovered fossilized remains of new species of the giant carnivores. The bones and teeth of the dinosaurs had been dug 10 years ago from a site in Niger by the famous dinosaur hunter Dr Paul Sereno. Dr Sereno passed the fossils to his student Steve Brusatte for detailed study.

The giant named Carcharodontosaurus stood 46 feet tall from snout to tail weighing seven tones with 70 razor sharp teeth the size of banana. The creature roamed the fertile plains of Sahara which 95 million years ago was covered with lush green vegetation. The carnivore was taller than its more popular cousin T-Rex was. Teeth and bones of two other predators – Spinosaurus and Rugopos, were found at the same vicinity suggesting the possibility of a fierce battle that caused the ultimate demise of the giants.

Few weeks back fossilized remains of a giant scorpion measuring 8 feet was discovered. It no more surprises as newer more taller and stronger fossilized remains of creatures of the Jurassic age that roamed the earth is discovered every now and then. With abundant oxygen and monster sized rivals the key to survival remained in assuming larger size with stronger and larger teeth as weapon.

Not only were the dinosaurs of gargantuan size but the earth they roamed was very different. Imagine the lush green Sahara plains so different from the historic arid desert.
