Climate change skeptics won’t give up easily since they smell the political misuse of government money in resolving the exaggerated (to them) incident. Continuing the tradition that started last year with the inauguration of former Vice President Al Gore’s ice sculpture, the local businessmen Craig Compeau and Rudy Gavora sought award-winning sculptor Steve Dean’s expertise to erect the two-ton statue in front of Thrifty Liquor along Airport Way. They’ll keep on doing it every year until Gore readies for a dialogue on man-made climate change.
Complete with a system that allows a Ford F-350 exhaust to find an outlet through Gore’s open mouth, it’s a gross derision of his beliefs. To worsen or ridicule it further, Compeau would play a recent Gore speech on climate change over a loudspeaker. Compeau is offering winter gear and an Al Gore bobblehead doll to the winner of a parallel-running contest that asks people to guess how much carbon emission was Gore responsible for while he flew from Tennessee to Copenhagen.
