30 minutes to a quick and easy home makeover

Nobody wants their home to look shabby when they are expecting company over. But you do not always have the time to bedeck and refurbish your home completely, especially if guests arrive without prior notice. In such cases, what you need is a quick fix that can give a complete overhaul to your interiors. Here are a few ways to redo your apartment and make it look a lot more inviting within minutes. Take out just 30 minutes of your time and let your visitors rave about the way your abode has been done up.

1. Dabble with paints

A quick way to make your home look more pleasant is to paint small surfaces that get noticed easily. These can be doors, cabinets, front of chests or drawers, etc. Do not forget to take off all the knobs and handles before painting the surface. Also, chafe the surfaces to be painted with sand paper thoroughly. Painting will make the surfaces look spanking new instantly thus giving a facelift to your interiors. Make sure that the paint gets enough time to dry up before your guests arrive.

2. Touch up tablescapes

There are so many objects stashed on top of the flat surfaces in your abode such as the top of a table, drawer, cupboard, chest or refrigerator. Rearrange things here to make the space appear neat and orderly. Go for an organized setting by placing taller objects at the back and shorter ones ahead. Assembling things such as shapes of squares, triangles, hexagons or concentric circles is also a good idea. You do not always have to go for a systematic setting. Placing things haphazardly also looks pretty charming. You can also add interesting pieces like artwork, lamps, candle stands or photo frames here.

3. Drapes and curtains

Sling new curtains or drapes on your windows and doorways. If you do not have any fresh pieces stored, then try putting together something on your own quickly. Sew up temporary curtains from thumbtacks or textiles that are lying around the house. You can let the curtains hang floppy or give them a quick hemming if you do not want the fabric to come in the way.

4. Add accessories

Small knick knacks, trappings and centerpieces can completely revamp the look of your interiors. Display China in a see-through glass cupboard. Set out mugs, bowls and other crockery on top of your kitchen island. Light up candles and lamps inside the house. An elegant vase looks really captivating, especially if you have added some fresh flowers in it. Place pillows of different sizes on hulky couches and arm chairs.

5. Fix up the Chandelier

Updating the look of chandeliers is very important as they tend to draw attention of onlookers. Retouch the color if it is fading away. Hide any parts that are chipping or have broken out. To cover up any flaws, just bedeck the chandelier with beads, crystals and rhinestones. If you do not have these, then trying using jewelry instead. Earring and pendants should do the trick.

There are so many times when people are planning to come over to your home and it does not look up to the mark. Surely, you are not left with enough time to renovate the interiors now. A good way out, in such situations, is to look for temporary solutions that can give a facelift to your home. Sometimes, even small changes can make a huge difference.
