10 Ways for dad to bond with the baby

A Father-Child Bond is usually unheard of. Mostly, it is the mother with whom a baby gels well and this indeed is for obvious reasons. A father has neither felt the baby grow inside him nor has he experienced the joy of living two lives, thus, making it difficult for the child to find natural connections with the father. Nonetheless, this does not certainly mean that this bond can never develop. Provided the right sort of guidance and the correct manner of dealing, a father too can find common grounds with his baby!

Here are ten simple ways for dads to bond well with their babies!

1. Talk to your baby before it is born

This is generally considered to be a mother’s prerogative. Because the mothers carry the babies all day around, they would obviously find better time to talk to them. However, a recent study has discovered that a male’s voice being low-pitched is much more audible to the baby as compared to a female’s high-pitched voice! So, make it a point to talk everyday to your uterus-borne baby!

2. Be there during delivery

Despite being surrounded with the busiest of schedules, you must be present during the baby’s delivery. Just as the doctors bring your child into the world, be sure that you hold it in your arms first. Also make eye contact with the baby. This would automatically form a strong bond between you two.

3. Massage your baby

A good massage is not just scientifically recommended but it is also a wonderful way to bond with the baby. Take lessons from a professional therapist and begin to massage your baby with utmost care. This will not only help him digest well and breathe easy but it will also help you get connected.

4. Skin contact

Bathe your baby yourself. In fact, if possible, bathe with him! This skin contact will turn out to be a soothing experience for your child. As most babies are startled for the first time in the bathing tub, your getting in, would give them a feeling of strength, security and protection.

5. Carry them with you

When you go out shopping or go for your regular tasks, carry your baby in a sling with you. This will not just give you a sense of responsibility, but it will also help your baby to recognize your worth among the strangers. More so, it would undoubtedly result in the development of a stronger association!

6. Have fun

Jiggle your baby around and have complete fun with them! Play games, take walks or simply dance with them strapped to your chest. The more you engage yourself in such activities, the more closely you will feel connected to your baby. In fact, there will come a time when you alone would be able to put your baby to sleep!

7. Cater to the baby’s needs

Feeding the baby or changing its diapers is not only a mother’s job! Though it may come naturally to her, you need to take your share of duties as well. Help out with the baby’s routine needs and try to accomplish them with ease. This will bring you into the baby’s comfort zone.

8. Go out

Take your baby out with you and breathe the freshness on the air together. Show him different places and make him meet different people. This will enable him to build a rapport with you as he begins to take in the diversity of the world.

9. Sleep together

Co-sleeping is understood to be one of the most healthy ways of invigorating natural bonding. Unless you are suffering from a contagious or communicable disease, try not to place your baby on the cradle. Rather, put him alongside you on the bed.

10. Act Silly

It is a natural fact that babies initially can not understand human language. Thus, it is vital to act silly with them! Make faces, show gestures, behave frantically- as it is by your non-verbal language that he will be able to communicate and in the process, bond with you!

By taking into consideration, the tips mentioned above, you surely will be able to connect, associate and build a rapport with your baby! Do not bear in mind that it will be difficult to bond with your child. You too can form as easy a connection with him, like a mother does! After all, the baby is equally yours!
