This year, people were shocked and surprised when they were waiting for the release of iPhone 5, but instead Apple decided to release iPhone 4S. Although people were initially disappointed, yet the features that iPhone 4S amasses prompted the audiences and buyers to look out for the phone. This upgraded version of iPhone 4 was in fact liked and appreciated by many. On the other hand, HTC also came out with the latest Android operated phone, HTC Amaze 4G that took the market by storm with its gorgeous, excellent looks and an interactive touchscreen. Only time will tell which of these phones would actually find place in the hearts of the buyers. Till then let’s review both of them and see which one is better, or which one wins!

iPhone 4S was launched recently and critiques began to feel that the phone was launched only because of lack of innovation in Apple Inc. But after the phone was bought out into the market, it was realized that the phone certainly possess the classier looks. It 9.3 mm thick and weighs only 140 gm. On the other hand HTC Amaze 4G weighs 172.9 gm and is 11.8 mm thick. This makes iPhone more sleek and lightweight. Also, iPhone 4S comprises of an LED backlit touchscreen while HTC Amaze 4G has an LCD touchscreen.
Although Amaze 4G has a good screen but when compared to iPhone 4S, it doesn’t stand a chance. The retina display of iPhone 4S and surely commendable and provides better graphics, picture clarity and extra sharp image quality. But at the same time, iPhone 4S screen is only 3.5 inch whereas Amaze 4G has 4.3 inch touchscreen. Booth of them have 960X640 resolution.
Winner: iPhone 4S is a sure short winner in this case as it has a better touchscreen apart from sleek, solid and lightweight design. For sure, the screen for Amaze 4G is bigger, but iPhone 4S screen is better.
HTC Amaze 4G
HTC Amaze 4G comes with Android operating system 2.3.4 and is extremely powerful. The processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 dual core 1.5 GHz which enables faster processing and better using. It has an internal memory of 16 GB while it has a RAM of 1 GB. The camera is super with 8 megapixels LED flash that ensures better picture quality at a higher screen resolution. It clicks great pictures even in low light and records video at 1080 pixels. The phone also boasts of a secondary camera of 2 MP. Web browsing is faster with a dedicated browser. It has a standard battery that can last for an average talktime and standby. The HSDPA speed is reasonably fast and one can download at about 8-21 MBPS speed. Android apps store can offer lots of applications.
iPhone 4S
iPhone 4S is certainly a better and upgraded version of iPhone 4 and is way better than the iPhone 3. The operating system is the iOS 5 and the processor is Dual core A5 chip which enables faster processing and better user interface. The display is awesome. A great upgrade is in the camera which is 8 MP LED flash camera that clicks better picture. A front camera is good for making video calls. It doesn’t support 4G but offers good web browsing speeds. The thing that gives this phone an edge over the others is that it is one of few phones that can easily and intelligently switch between CDMA and GSM antennas depending on the signal quality and reception. This ensures that you are able to connect with friends and family even when the signal is too low. It is lighter and thinner than other phones around and have more applications available at the iPhone apps store.
The Verdict
Both of the phones are pretty good, but surely iPhone 4S is a better choice when it comes to price. It costs $199 under contract for 16 GB whereas the HTC Amaze 4G charges you $259 under contract. iPhone 4S also offers more talk time per battery charge. While Amaze 4G would give you talk time of 6 hours, iPhone 4S would give you talktime of 14 hours. iPhone 4S also has an assisted GPS while Amaze 4G only has a normal GPS. Therefore the assisted GPS can pinpoint your area faster than Amaze 4G’s GPS. The higher PPI screen of iPhone 4S results in crisper display when it comes to photo viewing, text and video.
But at the same time, HTC Amaze 4G is laced with 4G which is not there in iPhone 4S. Also, its screen is 40percent larger than the iPhone 4S screen. It offers more standby time on every battery charge (11 days for HTC Amaze 4G while 8.3 days for iPhone 4S). Amaze 4G is a much faster processor and has more RAM than its competitor. It also offers better web browsing experience. While iPhone 4S may give you maximum download speed of 14.4 mbps, HTC Amaze 4G gives you a speed of maximum 42.2 mbps.
The cameras for both the phones are good, but the secondary camera/front camera of HTC Amaze 4G is better at 2 MP and offers resolution of 1600X1200. iPhone 4S’s secondary camera is normal and has a resolution of just 640X480 pixels.
Therefore, if you have more money to spend, then go for HTC Amaze 4G that offers you quite a lot for the price. But if you are obsessed about Apple products and want a sleek, stylish and lightweight phone with lots of apps than iPhone 4S is a better option for you. Choose wisely.
