Sony launched their latest range of Xperia mobiles today. The smartphone range of phones consists of Xperia S, Xperia U, Xperia P and Xperia Sola. Earlier they had announced to release Xperia S for Rs. 32,500. The other smartphones are expected to be released in a couple of months.
Xperia S is the first Sony (Sony Ericsson earlier) mobile phone to be released in India. Sony has now more shares in the joint venture with Ericsson, that’s why the name changes from Sony Ericsson to Sony. Xperia S is also the second cellphone to be certified by Playstation for gaming, with Xperia Play being the first one. Playstation certification allows users to access Playstation resources and sync it with the phone.
Under the hood Xperia S has a 1.5 Ghz dual core Qualcomm processor. It also has 1 GB of RAM to make processing fast. It has a 4.3 inch touchscreen and runs on Android v2.3 Gingerbread. The android is upgradable right out of the box to v4.0. You can record HD videos in 1080p which its 12 megapixel camera. The Exmor sensor ensures a good image capture even in low lighting conditions. The other features of the phone include 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth.
Talking of other models like Xperia P and U, P and U work on 1 Ghz processor. Both the phones work on Sony’s Entertainment Network. Xperia U has a 3.5 inch touchscreen on the other hand Xperia P will have a 4.0 inch touchscreen. Both of them have the Bravia engine for display and connectivity is DLNA certified. Xperia U and P will have pre installed Android v4.0 unlike XPeria S.
Lastly talking of Xperia Sola, would be cheaper than other Xperia phones. It would also have 1 Ghz processor, a 3.7 inch touchscreen and a 5 megapixel camera. It would also have NFC SmartTags enabled and xLoud engine for sound.
